Week 2 Day 9-Resist Living Carnally Minded!

Week 2 Day 9-Resist Living Carnally Minded!

In today’s lesson we are addressing the carnal mind. There is a difference between the carnal mind and to be carnally minded. The carnal mind is the part of you that receives information from the physical world around you in order to interpret, understand and respond to it. The mind has been beautifully created by God. Genesis 1: 26,27, & 31

To be carnally minded is where the information you receive physically around you (that does not line up with Christ's perspective) determines your thoughts and actions.

We are always meditating on something whether it is positive or negative. When we are operating in a carnally minded manner it is always negative and contrary to the Word.

Our thoughts matter as it has a direct link to our actions.

Thought – Word – Deed

The bible teaches us not to operate in a carnally minded way. In fact not only that but it is dangerous.

Romans 8:6

Understanding that negative and defeatist thoughts are not the mind of Christ nor are they the real YOU can help you know what to do with them.

We are presented with this verse

Romans 6:13

Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness.

We want to present every part of ourself as a instrument of righteousness. In fact if you are a Christian, bought from death to life then you are created wonderfully and are a instrument of righteousness.

Throughout the coming weeks you will begin to more easily recognise, identify and deal with the thoughts and realigning our thoughts with the truth. This is called discernment and requires constant practice as stated in Hebrews.

Hebrews 5:14

But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.

DISCUSSION QUESTION

The Lord showed me an analogy of R I D . R=recognise I=identify and D=deal.

Lets practice this today.

What is one thought that you have recognised that keeps on popping up in your mind recently?

Have you been able to identify whether its from God's perspective or not?

What is the truth and how can you start to address this today?

(See my example in the comments)

I hope you have a great day in Him, Sophia 🙂
